Prior to coming to the Outer Banks, I lived in Montgomery County, MD, where I had my own successful business as a master stonemason. At the same time, I had a avocation as a naturalist photographer which combined my interest in photography, nature and conservation. Unfortunately, my occupation as a stonemason was foreshortened by a back injury. However, as often happens in life when one door closes another opens and I found my new vocation and artistic passion in ceramics after moving to the Outer Banks. I make my living primarily based on my ceramic art, but my lifelong love of photography and nature has pleasantly continued to evolve. I am a self-taught photographer who started with a 35mm camera before digital photography. I learned to develop and print black and white and color photographs and enjoyed the exciting process of seeing my images come to life in the dark room. This gave me a solid foundation in photography to build on. I currently work exclusively with digital photography and print my own digital images. My photography work was featured in several nature magazines and one of my photos was selected by the Sierra Club as the front cover of a greeting card. Also, the National Wildlife Federation asked me to mount a one person photography exhibit in their National Headquarters in Northern Virginia. The Outer Banks of North Carolina is the perfect place to provide continual inspiration for my photographic pursuits. My photography reflects the variety of experiences gathered on my travels throughout the United States and abroad. My interest in the outdoors, especially hiking and sea kayaking, provides me with a wealth of photographic opportunities. Through photography, I attempt to bring my visions and feelings to the viewer. I hope to share my insights and enjoyment of nature with others.

I believe in taking nothing from nature but photographs and leaving nothing behind but footprints.

There are always two people in every picture: the photographer and the viewer.
